Gigi Alvarez

Hi, I'm Gigi! I'm Purépecha & Miwuk, and I'm currently studying computer science, philosophy, and Native studies.

Research-wise, I'm into multi-agent systems: agent swarms, emergent behavior, and how groups of agents end up coordinating (or don't). I also think a lot about where AI, land, and culture run into each other: Indigenous languages, data sovereignty, and how we look after knowledge that isn't ours to take. Otherwise I'm probably outside, staring at a plant for too long.
